چکیده

Abstract To quantitatively evaluate the influence of high true three-dimensional stresses on ductile–brittle behaviours rock in deep underground engineering, a series triaxial compression tests with different stress levels were carried out marble and four kinds granite. The influences states ( σ 2 , 3 ) post-peak characteristics analysed, new normalized evaluation index was proposed based energy conversion under stresses. divided into qualitative levels, namely, ductile-brittleness, transitional, brittleness super-brittleness, investigated. research shows that as increases or decreases (that is, differential between increases), increases, its increase rate gradually tends to be stable, transforming from ductile-brittleness super-brittleness resulting being easily induced by low- high- conditions. When is small, intrinsic itself have an obvious behaviours. large, all rocks can exhibit super-brittle behaviour. change controls evolution behaviours, high-stress brittleness. significantly higher than conventional at same . induces causes decay decrease increasing upper limit for brittle failure rock. enhancement effect must considered when evaluating surrounding conditions; otherwise, risk may underestimated.

Experimental Study on Properties of Methane Diffusion of Coal Block under Triaxial Compressive Stress

Taking the standard size coal block samples defined by ISRM as research objects, both properties of methane diffusion of coal block under triaxial compressive stress and characteristic influences caused by methane pressure were systematically studied with thermo-fluid-solid coupling with triaxial servocontrolled seepage equipment of methane-containing coal. The result shows the methane diffusio...

Void growth in 6061-aluminum alloy under triaxial stress state

In numerous metals and alloys, ductile fracture involves void nucleation, growth, and coalescence. In this contribution, void growth has been quantitatively characterized in an extruded 6061-wrought Al-alloy as a function of stress state in notch tensile test specimens. Digital image analysis and Stereology have been used to estimate the volume fraction and three-dimensional number density of v...

Characterisation of Acoustic Emission Sources in a Rock Salt Specimen under Triaxial Load

This study presents the application of an automated moment tensor analysis procedure on microcracks which were generated during a triaxial compression test of a cylindrical rock salt specimen (diameter 150 mm, length 300 mm). The acoustic emission signals were detected in a frequency range between 20 kHz and 1 MHz using 12 acoustic emission sensors mounted on the surface of the specimen cylinde...

The Fracture Characteristic of Three Collinear Cracks under True Triaxial Compression

The mechanical behavior of multicracks under compression has become a very important project in the field of fracture mechanics and rock mechanics. In this paper, experimental and numerical studies on the fracture property of three collinear cracks under compression were implemented. The specimens were a square concrete plate, and the cracks were made by a very thin film. The tests were conduct...
